History: The Keyser-Mineral County Public Library system was founded as a WPA library in the midst of the depression in 1937. 25 years later, it moved to its current location in the former Farmers and Merchants Bank. The Fort Ashby branch opened its doors in 1974, and the Burlington branch followed in 1981, taking over the old Twin Mountain & Potomac railroad station. The three libraries serve over 25,000 Mineral County residents.
